It has been almost 6 months since I last posted… I was going to stop posting here but recently had a change of heart and realized how much I love sharing my stories with you. Will share content monthly and get back to just sharing my life. The good, the bad, the travels, the tears, smiles and of course, adventures with Jasper.

Today I talk about one of my tattoos “She makes broken beautiful and strong invincible.” We are all a little broken - and it is our struggles that make us beautiful and unique.

As you saw in my previous video I had a quick vacation on Vancouver Island and went to Tofino, BC.
I love the ferry ride and mostly because I love the smell and feel of the ocean.
🤦‍♀️ Tofino is known for its fishing and surfing- Which I don’t do either. However, it is a spectacular town with shops, restaurants, local goods and of course some of the most stunning beaches I have ever seen.

As most of you know, I sold my travel trailer and have been exploring closer to home. Living in beautiful BC Canada gives me a lot of gorgeous places to explore and share with you. This week I got up early to join a friend who is fishing in Tofino. Known for its superb fishing and surfing, I don't do either. I appreciate the invite to tag along and will never say no to a trip on the ferry.

Any place on Vancouver Island is highly recommended because you can take BC Ferries. It doesn't matter what terminal you are leaving from or where you are going, the ride is a stunning view of the inside passage. The islands are covered in lush green trees, log cabins and the horizon meets the ocean in different colours depending on the weather. I have seen dolphins and whales and sunsets and sunrises. Rain or shine, it is a fabulous way to get from the mainland to Vancouver Island.

Jasper has to stay home. One, I don't like to leave him in the vehicle on the ferry and the 'pet area' on the ferry is awful. Second, a friend has offered to let me use his travel trailer and one of his kids has allergies so requested I not bring my dog with me. Hotels started at $198/ night so its a bargain to stay in the RV park.

A quick stop at Combs, famous for its goats on a roof market and by the end of the day I reach Tofino. Even thought it rained most of the drive - the view is gorgeous. From the ferry, to the highway, I am glad to share this drive with you.

Sorry it took so long for me to do an update video on this!

I received my PAL (possession and acquisition license) last month. From the time I took my firearms safety course with Silvercore, filled in the application and had it sent off with payment and references the process took 12 months.

1- It took me about 5 weeks after the course to fill in paperwork and confirm reference information.
2 - It was during COVID
3 - I had issues with an ex that involved the police and included some basic information and the file numbers. This might have slowed down the process slightly for me, but it was suggested to be honest and transparent from the beginning. It was not a huge deal but after doing some research felt it best if I disclosed it right away instead of them investigating and look like I might have been trying to hide something.

Just in time though! Canada is seeing a handgun freeze with bill C-21. Which I don’t fully understand. Why does the government want to put more controls and restrictions on firearm owners? We have to jump through hoops, have back ground checks done and must be outstanding citizens to keep our PAL. Why wouldn’t they spend more time, money and energy to crack down on illegally obtained firearms and ammunition?

ANyone with critical thinking skills and see that what the government is trying to do makes no sense. To me, it seems like they are trying to disarm us… and if history has shown us anything that is what has happened in the past.

Even if you are against firearms I urge you to keep an open mind and use your brain to take a look at history

History has shown us again and again that when a nation is disarmed by their government, tyranny follows. Adolph Hitler famously said, “To conquer a nation, first disarm its citizens.”.”

1911 – Turkey disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1915 – 1917 they murdered 1.5 million Armenians
1935 – China disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1948 – 1952 they murdered 20 million Chinese.
1938 – Germany disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1939 – 1945 they murdered 6 million Jews.

You can argue about the numbers, but the point here is that disarmed citizens are vulnerable, and that there are many historical examples of disarmed citizens being killed and oppressed by their own government. The excuse given by authorities that they need to take guns away from citizens in order to lower crime rates is not supported by facts. Even if a government does not turn on its own citizens after disarming them, people are less safe – because unarmed citizens are easy targets to criminals. Over and over again, it has been clearly shown that taking guns away from citizens does not lead to a decrease in crime but rather a dramatic increase.

🤦🏻‍♀️I guess the criminals did not turn their weapons in. Only the innocent law abiding citizens turned in weapons.

A disarmed population is fair game for a leader of any country who may be aspiring to become a dictator. When a leader controls with absolute power… hmmm… sound like anyone we might know here in Canada…? A disarmed population is fair game.

Tightening gun control on law abiding citizens can’t make sense to any logical person? If you agree with this new proposed law - I would love to hear your thoughts - maybe I am missing something??

The primary characteristic of a violent criminal is that they do not follow the law, and are therefore not affected by changes in the laws. Changes in the law only affect the people that follow them, and since Canadian gun owners are statistically the most well vetted and law abiding - as a condition of maintaining their PAL’s, these proposed changes will have virtually zero effect on gun violence. Full stop. The only possible purpose for this legislation is a disarmed and helpless population at the mercy of a government with an alarming number of ethics violations and the most totalitarian policies of any Canadian.

I never thought that I would see a day where I would question my own gender or sex… or both? I am not even sure anymore what the politically correct labels are any more when it comes to either of these. The way the world is changing has me asking questions. I do what I can to stay open and ask questions so that I can understand better. But honestly, this is one area that I am really struggling to accept.

I would have said that a woman is an adult female with overies, vagina, uterus and two XX chromosoms… but it seems that is no longer the case. When did that change? I have no idea. A few months ago I was filling in an influencer application and it asked for my sex. The option it gave were cis-female, cis-man, trans woman, trans man, other or prefer not to answer. There was no option for how I identify… just a female?! So I went to google and learned that a cis-female (a woman born a woman who identifies as a woman) would best describe me. But I scratched my head because isn't that just a woman...?

Recently, I learned that some women have penises. Some men have vaginas? Men can have babies and it is no longer correct to call it breast feeding; chest feeding is no more inclusive. I am doing what I can to wrap my head around all of this but it just doesn’t make any sense. It hurts my heart to think of all the women who have been robbed of ribbons and first place standings in sports because of Transgender women who have had how many years of testosterone in their bodies.

And call me selfish but as a proud woman, who has grown up knowing who I am and what I stand for, now I am no longer a woman? I truly need to know what the F is going on in the world right now.

Honestly, I am not happy with the way it seems other humans have been accepting this. No judgement from me; if you want to transition, or just be a dude who wears dresses - or anything else for that matter then you do you! But why is my entire identity going to be taken away to make others feel exclusive?

If you want to identify as a woman... at least lets figure out what that means.

I used to suffer from horrible panic and anxiety attacks, rating myself at 8-9/10. A few times someone had to call 911 because I was laying on the floor feeling like I was going to die. It was unbearable. I would not wish this feeling on my worst enemy. I knew that something had to change because I didn’t want to live the rest of my life feeling this way. 12 months ago I made a conscience choice to change my mindset. I started doing personal development and working on myself. It has not been easy. In fact it has been really hard.

GOOD NEWS! The work I have put in has pushed my anxiety to a more manageable 5-6/ 10 and today I want to share two very simple tips to help you take the edge off of your anxiety. I know that you know this already, but so many people make it seem like it has to be a massive switch and that is not true. I promise that if you can take these tips and put them into action it will take the edge of your anxious feelings.

ONE - Move. When you feel an anxious moment change your state. It doesn’t have to be anything intense. Just stand up and walk. Go to another room, do some stretching, try a yoga posture. Anything that you can do that will physically shift your energy will have a powerful outcome on your anxiety. YES. Getting to the gym, raising your heart rate being physically active for 45 minutes a day five days a week is ideal. But you don’t have to start there. Don’t over complicate it. Next time you are feeling the anxiety start to creep in, move your body and change the energy.

TWO - Be present. Again, you do not need to over complicate this. Just one minute. You don’t have to sit in a perfect posture and have perfect breathing. Just stop what ever you are doing and take a breath, close your eyes and pic one simple thought. The sun on your face. The smell of coffee on the stove. The sounds of your kids laughing or imaging your dog wagging its tail. If you are at work, then get up and go to a bathroom stall.

I promise you. If you can do these two simple things the next time your anxiety starts to effect you, it will reduces the bad feeling.

MEDICATION - If anxiety has changed your life and you are no longer able to do things that used to bring you joy do not be afraid to take medication. For me, 14 months on anti-anxiety meds made me numb. I wasn’t feeling anxious, but I wasn’t feeling happy anymore either.

I have made the hard choice to fight through the anxiety despite how hard it is. Maybe it will take longer that I had hoped but I know that I am putting in the work and seeing results. Improving 10% every few weeks ads up. I know that anyone reading this who has felt the terrifying grip of horrible anxiety will appreciate even a slight shift.

You can do it. It is not easy. But if you put in 2-3 minutes a day to move and be present you will start to feel some small shifts and it is a game changer.

Life can change in an instant. I can't think of anything more scary than being told you have a brain tumour. The call came at dinner time on a Friday night; the MRI I had done four days previously showed a golf ball sized tumour in my front lobe and I need to go to the hospital right away.

I have shared a lot of my story with you guys over the years. Today I tell you more about my symptoms and what led up to the diagnosis.

I was lucky. Lucky to find the meningioma in my frontal lobe before it reached my optic nerve. Growing at a rate of approx 1cm a year, this tumour had been growing for 4-5 years before they found it.

My 'episodes' were just really strange things. I started to keep track in December of 2016. Shaky, crazy head fog, out of body feelings, clammy, and strange urges to pee. Happening with no similar trigger. They thought it was anxiety - but it would hit me when I was at the gym, walking Jasper in the sunshine or even watching a funny movie.

Eventually they mentioned schizophrenia. I had been acting a bit crazy and emotional on top of the strange episodes. It was not very common in a woman of my age but they sent me to a psychiatrist and put me on meds to see if it would help.

The frontal lobe plays a role in many higher level functions of your brain that include:
- speech and language production in the dominant frontal lobe (opposite your dominant hand)
attention and concentration
- reasoning and judgment
- regulation of emotions and mood, including reading the emotions of others
- personality expression
- impulse control
- controlling social behaviours

I was dating a man who had hit me. I will NEVER condone hitting someone... but my heart breaks because I now know that I had a tumour that was effecting my behaviour. He had no right to do what he did, but the tumour in my brain was having and effect on my emotions, impulse control and social behaviours.

It is brain tumour awareness month and I hope that I can bring awareness to others who might be suffering. If you know something is wrong, keep pressing your doctors. It took 2 years to find the tumour. But it was not cancer, the craniotomy was hard but six months later I was back to living my life with no more weird episodes.

Life is short. I want to get back out on the road and LIVE life to the fullest. Hug your family and friends.I learned this lesson long before COVID and I hope that you know how precious life really is

Working in the gym for a few years was great but when you spent 8 hours working, sticking around to train myself was not enjoyable anymore.

After a brain tumour my thoughts about life changed greatly. I sold my apartment and bought a 26foot travel trailer and lived in it full time for a year. Jasper and I went through the United States and into Mexico.

Here I am today. Full time RV life wasn’t entirely for me but I MISS IT. I intended 2020 to be the year I was a snow bird. I dreamt of spending winters down south in the warm climates and summers here in Canada. But then COIVD. My road trip was going to start at mile zero of the trans Canada highway with my RV - but since I sold it a few months ago I have had to make changes.

I don’t know how or what but this summer, some point in June. I am going to go to Victoria BC and start my road trip. I don’t know how it will look I might be in a hotel, a tent or Air BNB… But I am going to keep telling my story and keep asking questions.

It has blown my mind that more content creators don’t even know about this new bill being proposed by the Canadian government. Bill C-11 will have an effect on your channel. NO matter if you are brand new, small channel like mine OR have over 100,000 subscibers.

I am going to be careful today to not share much of my personal opinion on this bill - my goal is to give you enough information to do more of your own research and decide for yourself how you feel about this bill.

Bill C-11 is also called the online streaming act and it seeks to give the government power over the internet. The CRTC, with this new bill, it appears to me that it would give an immense regulatory scope with almost no limitation. The government is seeking to move oversight of the internet the same way it currently regulates cable television and radio.

A big issue that I see is that small creators like me, or ones that are new and just getting started will suddenly be subject to a plethora of rules and regulations. Honestly, I would b ill equipped and under financed to properly engage with the possible new legislation. In a nutshell, creators will face a lot more hurdles to get their content seen online.

It sounds like Bill C-11 could cause Canadian creators to lose foreign revenue if the government forces the promotion of Canadian content. If you haven’t already spent time looking at your anylitics, I encourage you to take peak. More than 75% of my views and income come from outside of Canada. And I get most oc your channels are the same…

‼️Maybe you are not a creator, you are just someone who’s main viewing especially the last few years is streaming services instead of cable, television and radio. Bill C-11, would make platforms including YouTube, Netflix and TikTok “force-feed Canadian content” that people might not usually choose to watch, rather than curated content matched to their preferences.

❓What is so bad about force feeding Canadian content? If people don’t choose the Canadian content they are offered, it could suggest it is not popular, which could lead to it being promoted less heavily around the world. YouTube’s algorithm, which applies across borders, detects whether a video has been watched, ignored or turned off part way through, as well as whether it gets a thumbs up or is disliked. This influences how the content is promoted not just in Canada but beyond its borders.Videos few people watch tend to be harder to find. If people do not select Canadian content they are offered, or if they indicate they don’t like it or choose another video instead, it could lead to content that wasn’t chosen, disliked or not watched to the end automatically being downgraded around the world.

Are you starting to understand what the big issue with this bill really is?

My major issue with Bill c-11 is that the language is VERY unclear in fact Jeanette Patell, head of government affairs and public policy at YouTube Canada says “Clearer definitions and more precise language are needed to ensure the bill doesn’t unintentionally scope in digital creators and negatively impact the thousands of Canadian creators on YouTube and the millions of Canadians who use YouTube every day,”

If people like here find the language unlcear, how are every day Canadians like myself supposed t be able to understand it?

It might be obvious to you that I am personally against this Bill but I do hope that my opinions doest’t stop you from at least going and doing some research of your own.

👉NO MATTER WHAT YOU THINK OF THIS BILL C11- it will have an impact on creators and if this is your passion, your career or just a side hustle all creators should have an understanding what the out come might be if this bill gets passed.
